6 Must Know Topics of ABA for Caregivers

This workshop is a brief look into Applied Behaviour Analysis and 6 of the common topics which parents and caregivers can apply when selecting and teaching goals to their child/youth. Children and Youth spend the majority of their time with their parents and caregivers, which is why parents and caregivers play such a major role in the learning and development of skills. In this workshop we will highlight the importance of the parent/caregiver role, discuss what Applied Behaviour Analysis is, concepts that are important for determining the function a behaviour serves, and how to begin to address teaching skills or replacement behaviours.

Dates:

Wednesday January 25th: 9:30-10:30am

Monday February 13th: 7:00-8:00pm

Registration: https://forms.gle/rcoLV6zJJBbjq9wd7

Increasing Leisure Time Interests

In this workshop we will review the methods outlined by Coyne, Klagge, and Nyberg in their book Developing Leisure Time Skills for People with Autism Spectrum Disorder Practical Strategies for Home, School, & Community (2016) and how they can be applied by parents and caregivers. The method has three components, and there is a component that can be applied to increasing independence or alleviating dependency on caregivers for all individuals. We will broadly discuss each component and caregivers can determine what information is most applicable to the child or youth in their care. For further assistance in applying the method to individual situations, a 1:1 coaching session can be scheduled.

Dates:

Monday, January 16th 7:00-8:00pm
